ADAPTIVE AERIAL TEACHER TRAINING

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Adaptive Aerial Teacher Training is the next step after you have completed the 10-hour online lecture portion of the Circus Arts Institute’s Aerial Teacher Training*.  Although we do not require it, we recommend you also take the physical portion of the Aerial Teacher Training before this course.
 
During the 20-hour online Adaptive Aerial Teacher Training, you will learn to teach beginner level Adaptive Aerial Skills on your chosen apparatus. Videos of aerial skills are included in this course to support learning.  Offered apparatus include Adaptive Silks/Hammock/Sling, Adaptive Trapeze, or Adaptive Spanish Web.  You will choose one of the 3 apparatus choices per training.
 
We will discuss the therapeutic application of the adaptive aerial skills in your private and group lessons as well as in individual, partner (including sibling), family and group therapy sessions. The Adaptive Aerial Teacher Training is applicable for neurotypical, neurodiverse and physically diverse students and clients and helps those with sensory, attention, and learning differences.

*Prerequisite for Circus Arts Therapy® Adaptive Aerial Teacher Training is Beginner Aerial Teacher Training (ATT) which may be taken during any Beginner ATT session.  To view dates when Beginner ATT is offered, click here.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Introduction to aerial equipment including a focused review of safety and spotting techniques, injury prevention and care, classroom management, rigging, warming up and cooling down.
  • Introduction to adaptive aerial skill progressions on your chosen apparatus
  • Demonstration of the difference between proper body positioning and improper body positioning
  • Discussion of the therapeutic application of aerial equipment including identifying the physical, mental, and social benefits of using aerial exercises in a class or therapeutic session
  • Discussion of how to adapt and grade down aerial skills to suit your particular student or client’s needs and abilities.
  • Summary of how to use the adaptive aerial skill progression and how to lesson plan for a specific student or client

ADAPTIVE AERIAL TEACHER TRAINING policies

  • Deposit required to enroll, with the balance due (no later than) 30 days prior to the first day of training.
  • In order to maintain a fair and cost-effective structure for all trainees and to provide the best experience possible, Circus Arts Institute has initiated the following policy. If less than six (6) trainees register for any one apparatus, those trainees will be given the option to take the training as a private training, receive full credit toward future training at Circus Arts Institute, or receive a full refund.
  • In the event of a cancellation by the Circus Arts Institute, rescheduling will be attempted and if rescheduling is not possible, full refunds of all deposits and pre-payments will be dispersed.
  • If the participant informs the Circus Arts Institute of a change in plans to not attend the course 30 days or more before the first day of training, we will gladly refund* payments made.
  • If the notice is given less than 30 days prior to the first day of training, the deposit will be held and further refund* status will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • After the training packets have been printed and mailed (approximately 3 weeks prior to the start date of training), there are no refunds.
  • *All refunds incur a $35 Administrative Fee.  If your rig was visited virtually by our Safety Compliance Coordinator, an additional $50 Rig Visit Fee will also apply.
After full course payment is received, you will be provided links to our growing video library.
CAI includes the card processing fee to recover charges levied by Square.
Early Bird Discount is available for payment in full when registering and expires 30 days prior to the training start date.
Due to higher International shipping costs, International orders are not discounted and incur an additional $50 shipping charge.
The Aerial Circus Training and Safety manual is recommended as a reference guide for all trainees.
