course description
Did you enjoy learning to juggle in our Level 1 Circus Arts Therapy® course? Circus Arts Therapy® Training Level 2, presented by Carrie Heller, MSW, LCSW, RPT, will continue to introduce you to more adaptive ground-based circus arts activities and exercises. You can add these new additions to your toolbox and use them in individual, sibling, partner, family, and group sessions.
The Circus Arts Therapy® Training Level 1 course includes videos. It is based on the publication Circus Arts Therapy® Fitness and Play Therapy Program Shows Positive Clinical Results which can be found in the International Journal of Play Therapy, April 2018 edition here: http://dx.doi.org/10.1037/pla0000068.
During this course we will continue to discuss Carrie Heller's Circus Arts Therapy® Clinical and Adaptive Methodology. We will review in detail the therapeutic language used in the Circus Arts Therapy® room as well as the application of trauma informed principles and cultural humility in the Circus Arts Therapy® room.
Therapists will be introduced to adaptive balance boards, the combination of juggling and balancing, as well as a variety of sensory based exercises. Additional ground-based circus arts apparatus which you can also add to your therapeutic sessions, will be discussed; short video clips will also be shown.
